Up, Up and Away…

My weight went UP!  (Kinda, sorta…)  Remember, I just purchased a new set of scales.  So, my weight is now 234.5, according to my new scales.  (I should have kept the old scales so that I could compare, but, really, no matter what the scale reads, I will continue to follow my current course.)  I have a NEW eating ‘system’ in place.  Here goes:

Every month, I will prepare a day’s worth of food, so that I will have readily prepared food throughout the day.  I have been preparing every meal “fresh”, but, when I get lazy, I forgo preparing my own meals and go “out” to eat.  No more!  I shall prepare my meals in the mornings, reheat them throughout the day, and I will NOT eat a single meal “out” during the month of April.

(Honestly, the Easter Bunny treats probably didn’t help things… :) )

Finally!

I went to the hospital today to check on a friend.  While I was there, another friend, who I had not seen in many, many months walked up and said… “You’ve lost weight!”  Awesome!  This is the FIRST time anyone has noticed that I’ve lost a few pounds.  Finally!  Now I have even MORE motivation to get up, get active, and get fit.  Weigh-In Tomorrow Morning!!!

I (Hated) Love To Play Golf!

I have been EXTREMELY busy with “real life”. I cannot remember the last time that I took a day “off”. My job is pretty cool, allowing me a lot of schedule flexibility, but I have had “something” to do every day for the past 2 months. So, yesterday, I took some “me time” and went to play golf with a couple of my good friends. Now, there was a time when I was able to play golf once or twice a week. But, those days are LONG gone. First, golf is expensive and I am trying to save money. (Want to know how much I’m trying to save?) Second, I have two kids, a wife, 5 web sites, a ‘real’ job, and many, many other responsibilities. But, my buddies called me up, wanted to play golf, so we went. Mind you, I have not been to a golf course in about 4 months! So, I assumed I would stink. Guess what? I rocked! We played 36 holes, I shot a 76 and an 80. Not bad for a dude who hasn’t played since November. Plus, I felt HEALTHY. I wasn’t obsessed about my “gut”. My shorts and shirt fit well, and I was able to just step up to the ball and SWING!!! Days like yesterday provide motivation for making healthy choices!

A List Of Healthy Foods

I just found this pretty cool site listing the World’s Healthiest Foods.  For those of you who are trying to lose weight and feel better, you might enjoy this particular resource.

(I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for a bit, and I feel a little better.)

Sleep Apnea

I have sleep apnea (also called sleep apnoea).  Basically, whenever I fall asleep, I have “events” where I stop breathing regularly and my body “jolts” itself back into proper rhythm.  I were a mask which forces air down my nose so that air can get to my lungs.  The mask is cumbersome and uncomfortable, but I cannot sleep without it.  Literally, I could die if my body “stopped breathing” long enough.  I hate the fact that I have sleep apnea, and the severity of my condition is worsened due to the fact that I am overweight.  The problem with sleep apnea is that I wake up TIRED every morning.  So, I don’t FEEL like exercising, and I CANNOT take a nap in the middle of the afternoon, so I am always TIRED.  Do you see the cycle?  I don’t sleep well, so I don’t feel like exercising, so I don’t exercise, so I don’t lose weight, so I don’t sleep well.  Yikes!  It is 9:15 AM, I have been up for about 3 hours, and I can BARELY put one foot in front of the other foot.  And I’m supposed to jump up and go workout?!?  For the first time in 3 months, I’m really bummed.

I’m going to the gym.

Period.
