Running In A 5K

At the urging of my sister, we are going to run in a 5K. The ‘race’ is scheduled for March 29 – which is 64 days from today.

To get prepared, I’m going to follow the plan from Cool Running – Couch-to-5K.

I’ll start tomorrow, Day 1 of Week 1 -

Brisk five-minute warm up walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.

Breaking that down -

5 minute warm up walk

1 min jogging, 1.5 min walking

1 min jogging, 1.5 min walking

1 min jogging, 1.5 min walking

1 min jogging, 1.5 min walking

1 min jogging, 1.5 min walking

1 min jogging, 1.5 min walking

1 min jogging, 1.5 min walking

1 min jogging, 1.5 min walking

Total jogging – 8 minutes

Total walking – 12 minutes

No. Calories Needed Challenge – The First Weigh In

The numbers are in – and it’s time to get serious.

NCN – 250 Pounds

Big Honkin – 360 Pounds

Next weigh in?  Tuesday Morning.

It took Big Honkin a few days to weigh in – He’s using the scales at his local gym.  But, now it’s time to get serious.  I’ve gone w/out caffeine for 4 days, and I’m pumped about losing weight.

No. Calories Needed Weight Loss Challenge – Day One

I was chatting with a good friend of mine the other day, and we started talking about No. Calories Needed. I can’t remember who it was, but one of us suggested that we have a ‘weight loss challenge’ for 2008. After thinking about it for a few days, we came up with a set of ‘rules’ for the challenge, and decided that we would go for it. We both decided to battle-it-out online, right here, at No. Calories Needed.

Let me introduce you to my competition – Big Honkin

Big Honkin is a good friend of mine. He also happens to be my cousin. We’ve been friends since we were kids.

Big Honkin runs a blog and podcast over at Geek Out Online.

He also has a chart over at the No Credit Needed Network.

Big Honkin is now co-author of No. Calories Needed. He’ll check in from time to time with articles about his weight loss.
