Analyzing The Foods I Eat - Breakfast

I thought it might be interesting to analyze a few of the foods that I eat - starting with my breakfast favorite - instant oatmeal and an apple.

Kroger Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal

Nutrition Facts -

Calories - 160

Total Fat - 2g

Total Carbohydrate - 32g

Protein - 4g

Different nutrients provide different calories per gram.

Fat = 9 calories per gram.

Carbohydrate = 4 calories per gram.

Protein - 4 calories per gram.

Caloric Breakdown -

Fat = 2g = 2 x 9 = 18 calories

Carbohydrate = 32g = 32 x 4 = 128 calories

Protein = 4g = 4 x 4 = 16 calories

Fat = 11% Carbohydrate = 80% Protein = 9%

Granny Smith Apple

Nutrition Facts -

Calories - 80

Total Fat - .5g

Total Carbohydrate - 21g

Protein - .2g

Fat = <1% Carbohydrate = 98% Protein = <1%
