After watching I Can Make You Thin With Paul McKenna Sunday, I started following the 4 Golden Rules yesterday -

As a reminder, here are the four rules - with links to Paul’s website -

1. When You Are Hungry, Eat

I had four ‘meals’ yesterday. I was never ‘really, really’ hungry - but I did feel like eating. I ate at 10, 2, 6, and 10.

2. Eat What You Want, Not What You Think You Should

For supper, I wanted a steak. So, I went ‘big-time’ and purchased some fillets. I grilled them with a little salt and pepper. After bringing them inside, I cut one in ‘half’ and put about 4 ounces on my plate. I also had a small portion of potatoes and some corn. Read rule 3 for what happened next! Here’s a hint… It was amazing.

3. Eat Consciously And Enjoy Every Mouthful

The idea for this rule is that you ‘think’ about what you are eating - and that you eat slowly. So, at each of my meals, and especially for the meal where I had the steak, I would take a bite of food, and slowly chew it. After swallowing, I would simply ’sit-there’ for about 45 seconds. And, amazingly, after 10 minutes, 8 bites, and 2/3 of the steak, I was FULL. I’m telling you - under ‘normal’ circumstances, I’m eating that much steak in 3 bites and I’m ’starving’ for more. But, with this plan, my stomach, apparently, has a chance to tell my brain - hey, I’m cool - and then I can just stop eating.

4. When You Think You Are Full, Stop Eating

Later, I felt a little ‘hungry’ - not starving, but I felt like I wanted something to eat. I drank a glass of water and then I fixed a plate of chips and salsa. I used ‘rule 3′ and - after eating EIGHT bite-sized chips - I was full.

So far - and I realize that it’s only 1 day - I’m LOVING this program.Click here to read my summary post about the 4 Golden Rules

4 Golden Rules - Morning Of Day One

After watching ‘I Can Make You Thin With Paul McKenna’ last night, I started following the ‘4 Golden Rules’ this morning -

As a reminder, here are the four rules - with links to Paul’s website -

1. When You Are Hungry, Eat

I wasn’t hungry until 10AM.  So, I didn’t eat.  I have a feeling that I will BE hungry earlier, once I’ve been on the ‘rules’ for a few weeks.  But, late last night, I ate a bowl of ice cream, and I woke up ‘full’.  So, I waited until I started to feel hungry - and I had a big glass of water - fixed some food and sat down to eat.

2. Eat What You Want, Not What You Think You Should

This felt ‘funny’ - but I did it anyway.  I had some turkey bacon, a dill pickle, a banana, some sunflower seeds, and some banana peppers.  I like all of these foods.  So, that’s what I ate!

3. Eat Consciously And Enjoy Every Mouthful

I sat down at the table.  I used a knife and fork.  I chewed each bit 20 times.  I took the ‘extra’ time to pray and think about my day.  My wife called.  Our little baby girl is doing ‘just fine’ and she’ll be born in a few weeks!  As I was enjoying the food, I noticed something…

4. When You Think You Are Full, Stop Eating

In less than ten bites - I was full.  Not ‘busting-at-the-gut-I-can’t-breathe’ full, but, ‘hey-I’m-not-really-hungry-full’.  So, I quit eating.

I have no idea if these ‘Golden Rules’ will actually help me lose weight - but I DO know that I am full.  And, I’m NEVER full.

I had never heard of ‘Paul McKenna’ until tonight. I was flipping through the channels - and thinking about getting another bowl of ice cream, even though I was already ’stuffed’ - and I saw his show -

I Can Make You Thin - Golden Rule 4

Here’s the final rule  -

When You’re Full, Stop Eating!

I’ll summarize a few of Paul’s thoughts -

The more you listen to the ‘full’ signal, the better you’ll feel -

We decide how much we want from what we see, not from how we feel -

Our stomach will tell us how much to eat -

My thoughts -

I’ve NEVER felt full, but maybe that’s because I’ve eaten too much, too fast, and never ‘listened’ to my stomach.

I’m excited about trying Paul’s rules.  Let’s rock!

I Can Make You Thin - Golden Rule 3

Paul’s third rule is -

Eat Consciously!

Again, I’ll summarize a few of the points he makes -

People who overeat ‘think’ about food all the time, but, when it comes ‘time’ to eat, they ’shovel food’ into their mouths -

Eat slowly, think about each and every food -

Chew the food and think about it -

Like when we ‘drive’ on the freeway, when we get ‘on an on-ramp’, we realize how fast we’ve been driving -

Eating consciously - slowly, no distractions, enjoying the food - allows us to actually feel ‘full’ when we are -

Eat at a quarter of the speed that you normal eat at -

My thoughts -

This makes a lot of sense.  Of course, the part of me that ‘loves’ the way I ‘feel’ when I overeat is SCREAMING at me - no, no, no, no, no…

But, eating slowly, putting the fork down, taking my time - being a human being about it - makes a ton of sense.

If you join his site, you can see a list of the ‘Golden Rules’ and I think there’s a forum, too.  Hmmm….
