Ready To Write

As some of you know, I recently changed jobs – and started a brand new church-planting adventure.  My current situation allows for adequate time to both write and work out, and I’m excited about both!

When last I left you guys, several months ago, I was down 15 pounds for the year.  I’ve held steady at that mark – and now I’m ready for more weight loss.

Here’s my current program -

1.  I practice, for lack of a better term, intentional eating.  I eat only when seated.  I take small bites.  I chew food thouroughly.  I eat until I am no longer hungry – and stop before I’m actually full.

2.  I drink enough water to both stay hydrated and feel energetic.

3.  I walk 40 minutes per day, every day.

4.  I go to the gym and work out, 3 days per week.

5.  I seek adequate rest.

I’ve really missed writing, but I am thankful that I gave myself a much needed break.  It feels great to be back, writing and working out, with much to look forward to in the coming months.  You guys rock!

Throwing Away The Scale And The Number

It’s time.  After almost fifteen years of worrying about my weight – the actual number on the scale – I’m done.

I’m not going to weigh myself, anymore.

I was watching a commercial today.  I’m not sure, but I think it was for some weight loss product.  Anyway, I noticed that the folks in the commercial were throwing their scales out.  It struck me – that’s what I should do.

Even when I’m losing weight, the scale always depresses me.  Seriously, I’ve weighed myself, several times a month, since I was 12 years old.  And I’m tired.  I’m tired of worrying about “the number”.  Heck, I’m tired of seeing “the number” go down, feeling elated – and them immediately thinking, “Oh, now I have to be even LOWER tomorrow”.

I’ve starved myself because of the “the number”.

I’ve eaten like a fool because of “the number”.

I’ve been frustrated by “the number”.

I’ve been appalled by “the number”.

Now, I’m down with “the number”.

Instead of worrying about how much I weigh, I’m going to enjoy my life – and work very, very hard to just be healthy.

I’ll know if I’m losing weight.  I’ll know if I’m gaining muscles.  I’ll know how I’m doing – and I will no longer be bound to that square foot of self-image determiner.

As a concession to the No. Calories Needed site, I will weigh myself, once a year, on December 31st.  Other than that, I’m done.

Seriously, I’m done.

Whew.  I legit feel better.

By the way, I haven’t eaten a single piece of junk food this week – and I’ve spent several hours playing football with my son and working outside.  See.  I don’t need no stinking scale.  Rock on!

Guess Who’s Back

Regular posting will resume tomorrow!

For full details (okay, some details) about where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to, head over to my main site, No Credit Needed.  There, you can read about my week “away” from blogging.

Just to update, my weight has not changed, in, oh, two months.  I’m still going to the gym and I’m still eating a healthy diet.  (I have had a few days of slacking, here and there, but that should be remedied by a renewed focus on blogging.)

My planned 5K is OFF!  Our littlest just turned ONE, and the Saturday that I was planning to run the 5k is the day we have scheduled her birthday party.  I’m still planning (and training) to run, but I think I’m going to wait until my sister can run with me.  We shall see.

I hope you are all doing well.  Tomorrow, regular posting schedule resumes!  Rock on!

Just Needed To Clear My Head

As I mentioned a few days ago, I’ve been in a stall for several weeks now.  I’m still following my diet and I’m still exercising, but my weight just isn’t changing.  I’m a little frustrated, and I needed to get away from blogging for a while.  My life has been super hectic as well, but I finally managed to take (half of) a day off today.  I’ll be back to my regular posting schedule Friday, and I want to thank you all for your encouragement and patience.  I am not sinking back into my old habits, thank goodness, but I do think that I’ve slacked up, just a bit, in the gym, due to the fact that I haven’t been blogging.  No more!  As of Friday, I’m back to my daily blog posts.
