Weigh-In

How My Weigh-In Almost Ruined My Weight Loss

I just weighed-in. I’m now at 249 lbs. I started, last Monday, at 257 lbs. I’ve lost 8 lbs.

And, my weigh-in almost ruined my future weight loss.

Why? Well, I’ve been following the ‘4 golden rules’ - eating when I’m hungry, eating what I want, eating consciously, and stopping when full - and I’ve been loosing weight. But, some habits die hard. As soon as I saw that number, I was tempted to ‘wait until later’ to eat, so that I could step on the scale and weigh a little less. In the past, if I lost a few pounds, I’d immediately abandon whatever eating plan I’d been following and go into starvation-mode. Fearing that I’d regain the pounds that I had lost, I’d refuse to hydrate myself and I’d go without food for as long as possible. Then, of course, I’d crash-and-burn and fill my stomach with junk foods and soda.

No more. This morning, I weighed in, made a notation, and fixed my breakfast. I don’t care if the scale bounces around a few pounds - My primary goal is to be in control! The weight will drop, as I learn to manage my cravings and eat properly.

Last nights episode was pretty good - but not nearly as good as the first episode. It felt a little ‘forced’. But, I’m sure that there are folks who needed to see it, and I’m sure it helped them. For me, the first episode will always be my favorite. If all goes well, it will be the episode that changed my life!

Getting Ready For Episode 2 Of Paul McKenna’s I Can Make You Thin On TLC

Episode two will air in less than three hours. I have set the DVR to record the episode, but I hope to watch it live. Tonight’s episode will be about emotional eating - and Paul is going to introduce his tapping technique. I must admit, I was a bit weirded out by the tapping technique when I first saw it, but I’ve tried it, and amazingly, it works.

This morning, out of habit, I stepped on the scale - and I’m down 8 pounds. My goal is to lose 80 pounds - so that’s 72 to go!

4 Golden Rules - After Lunch Day 4 - Down 7 Pounds!

I now weigh an even 250 pounds.  That’s seven pounds less than I weighed on Monday morning.  I am eating less.  I am enjoying my food more.  I have more energy.  I cannot believe how easy this plan is to follow.

After following the ‘Golden Rules’ for four days, I can report the following -

I have learned how to listen to my stomach - I know when I am hungry and I know when I am full.  Now, this might seem like something that we all know intuitively, but, I think that most people struggle to quit eating when they are full.  By taking my time - and really thinking about each and every bite - I’ve learned that I get full after only a few bites.

I have learned how important it is to drink water - and a lot of it.  I never realized how much better I would feel when hydrated.  A lot of overweight people refuse to drink a lot of water - fearing the dreaded ‘water weight’.  I’ve done a little research - and water weight has nothing to do with how much water is consumed.  It has to do with how much sodium is consumed.  Drinking several glasses of water a day keeps me full and helps with various bodily functions.

I get to eat what I want.  Period.  I eat steak or a cookie or corn or a potato or sunflower seeds or a pickle or candy or oatmeal or…  I fix it.  I sit down at the table.  I eat a few bites.  I drink my water.  I’m full.  I’m satisfied.  I’m done.

I know that I should step away from the scale.  But, I’m so amazed by how simple this program is, that I can’t help but want to see the progress I’m making.  But, I promise, I will not weigh myself until Monday.  I promise!
