I went to the track last night. I arrived at 7:20 and I HAD to pick my daughter up from gymnastics at 8:00. Her gym is about 5 minutes away from the track, so that left 5 minutes for warm up and 30 minutes for walking. So, I busted out the old iPod and I started out. I like to walk for 1/4 of a mile, and then I like to jog, just for a few yards, and then go back to walking. I repeat this pattern of walking, jogging just a bit, and walking, until I reach the first mile. (I have really tight muscles, so it helps if I have an “extended” period of warm up.) For the last mile, I like to push myself. I run 1/4 of a mile and then I walk 1/4 of a mile – realizing, of course, that lots of folks could easily run the entire 2 miles, but I’ve NEVER been much of a runner. I like this style of “interval training” and it helps m rev up my heart rate and work up a good sweat.
I’ll be hitting the scale in just a few minutes, but I wanted to write this post – unaffected by how much I have or have not lost. I’m really starting to enjoy walking. I feel SO much better after I get finished.
Alright, to the shower and then onto the scale.
