As I’ve mentioned several times over at No Credit Needed, I’m a huge fan of Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps For Financial Peace. So, I’ve decided to create my very own Baby Bites For A Healthy Body. I like the idea of “having a plan”.
Baby Bites For A Healthy Body
Bite 1: Drink 8 to 12 cups of water every day.
Bite 2: Eat four to six healthy, balanced meals every day.
Bite 3: Walk sixty minutes, every day.
Bite 4: Sleep 6 to 8 hours, every night.
Bite 5: Stretch and pray, every day.
Bite 6: Take a multivitamin, every day.
Bite 7: Weigh myself, once a month.
For the past four months, I’ve been living in denial. I lost some weight, hit a platue, and then went right back to old habits. But, last night I realized the following about myself: I really do want to lose weight… and I’m the ONLY person who can really make that happen. So, I’m going to use my Baby Bites plan and I’m going to lose weight.
I want to thank you all for your comments and emails. I realize that reading this blog can get a little frustrating. (Trust me, I HATE ‘hit and miss’ bloggers… but I have a history of yo-yo dieting. I cannot make excuses… but I can pickup and move forward.) Finally, two or three of you suggested that I go for a checkup… and I have decided to heed your advice. I’m going to a camp/retreat for the week of the Forth, and I’ve scheduled a doctor’s appointment for the week after next. I need to find out if I have some sort of “metabolic resistance” or thyroid issues. Scared, NCN? You bet…

I remember when I was getting out of debt, I’d login to my old blogger account, update the No Credit Needed site, and I’d ALWAYS have some progress to report. Those, my friend, were the “good old days”. Now, I login to No. Calories Needed, and I think to myself, “Hmmm… I haven’t been eating healthy foods, I haven’t been counting calories… why in the world do I have a weight loss blog…”. Clearly, after stalling for a month, I lost whatever motivation that I once I had. Clearly, I have weight loss issues. (If YOU had a blog about weight loss that MANY of your friends knew about, wouldn’t YOU be motivated to go ahead and lose the weight? Yes, YOU would, because you are a sane, normal person.) I suppose that I should be proud of the weight that I HAVE lost. My body apparently loves the number 231, 235, 232, and 237. Why? Because, no matter how many calories I consume or how much exercise I get, the scale always reads one of those four numbers.
So, in a last-ditch effort to lose weight (and restore the legitimacy of this blog) I’ll just go back to a very, very basic diet. I’ll ditch the diet soda, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and head back to the gym. Surely, other people have broken through these types of ‘funks’ and lost weight? We shall see…
By the way, I did NOT write this post so that you would leave a ‘You can do it, NCN’ comment. I’d LOVE for you to leave a comment, but I’m not whining. I’m actually not depressed about not losing weight. I’m perplexed? confused? Does any of this make sense? I just want to lose a little weight and feel better, and my mind seems to be working against me. Hopefully, it’s just a matter of doing the right things, over and over, until the results start to come…

I just returned from a round of golf. For the first time, my son, NCN Jr., went with me. He didn’t actually “play” golf with me, but he did ride in the cart, hand me tees and keep me company. He’s only 3, but he was very well behaved and we had a blast. It was probably the most enjoyable round of golf I’ve ever played. I shot a respectable 79. I did a little searching on the internet and I found out that a round of golf (with a cart) burns a little more than 1000 calories! Wow. I had no idea. Here’s a list of funny things NCN Jr. said during the round…
Daddy, why do you keep putting those white nails in the ground… (tees)
Daddy, when you hit a silly shot, you have to try, try again!
(Shouted) YAY! Daddy hit it in the water! Daddy hit it in the water! Yay, Daddy!
He’s a great kid, and I was blessed to be able to hang out with him. I can’t wait ’till he’s a little bigger and can “hit ‘em” with me.

I’d like to welcome those of you who have come from The San Antonio Express-News . Claudia Zapata wrote an article about personal finance bloggers who also blog about their weight loss, and my sites were included in the article! Claudio mentioned two of my sites, No Credit Needed and No. Calories Needed. Thanks, Claudia!
I began this site in December of 2006. My goal? To lose weight and be healthy! I must admit, getting rid of debt was MUCH easier than getting rid of the weight.
I also have two other sites. Please consider visiting the No Credit Needed Network and the No Credit Needed Podcast.
Thanks for stopping by. Click here to contact me with any questions. Or, you can simply leave a comment on any post.

I’m back home after a week of vacation…
Let’s just say that my eating habits, of late, have been less than “healthy”. But, I cannot afford to focus on the past, I must press towards the future. I’ve stocked up on healthy foods: fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meat, etc. Breakfast this morning will be oatmeal and a few grapes. For lunch, a little grilled chicken, zucchini, and some green beans. Supper, some more grilled chicken, an apple, some corn and brown rice. Goal: Less than 1800 calories.
By the way, the No Credit Needed Podcast is hosting this week’s Carnival of Debt Reduction. Check it out.
