So, yesterday and today I did some walking.
Friday, I did some walking around our neighborhood. I used the awesome Runkeeper app on my phone – and tracked my time, distance, and calories burned. The app is awesome, and I even used my wife’s van to see how accurate the app was. Spot on.
I walked for 30 minutes and covered 1.5 miles. I kept myself to a moderate pace and really just spent the time enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. As I drop a few more pounds, I’ll up the time, pace, and distance, but this was a decent “get back to it” walk.
Today, it rained, so I did my walking on the old treadmill. I walked for 36 minutes and covered 2 “miles”. I did a little bit of H.I.I.T. – by running for 30 seconds and then walking for 2 minutes – but not much. My body, slowed by a back injury, coupled with laziness, just isn’t ready for intense training. Again, I’m committed to this for the long-term, and don’t want to re-injure myself or strain a muscle.
As far as my eating – I did great! On Friday, I not only stayed below my target for calorie consumption, I also managed to avoid junk-carbohydrates and fake-foods. I repeated this success on Saturday – and made it through both days with only two sodas. I’m moving away from caffeine, but need to avoid the headaches associated with going “cold turkey”.
All-in-all, I’d say the last two days were awesome and I’m proud of myself – for eating right, exercising a bit, and then writing about it. Be blessed!
