Eating, Life

A Great Day Outside At The Easter Egg Hunt

We are home from today’s Easter Egg Hunt.  We had a great day.  Several of my family members were able to come down, including my little sister and her husband, who ran a 10K this morning!  Wow.  That’s 6.2 miles.

I also did a bit of running – .5 miles to be exact.  🙂

My goal is to be able to run a mile, without stopping, by the end of the month.  I’m pretty sure that I can do it – and I’m going to give it a shot tomorrow, after church.

Here’s how I handled eating today, surrounded by folks who were eating cakes and cookies and candies –

I fixed my plate – one hot dog w/ bun, a few chips, a bottled water, and a diet soda.  I sat down, and I ate SLOWLY.  Very, very slowly.  (On a ‘normal’ day, I can eat three hot dogs in about 2 minutes. Or four.)  After eating half of the hot dog, I began to feel full.  I ate a few chips, took a sip of water, and went to toss the football and hang with some friends.  About 20 minutes later, I came back, slowly ate what was left of the hot dog, drank some soda, and I was finished.  I wasn’t hungry, I didn’t want any cake or candy, and I actually ENJOYED myself.

The weather was beautiful – beyond beautiful.  There was a slight breeze, and it was warm enough to be comfortable in or out of the shade.  I even got a little sun.

I’ll weigh in Monday morning – but a big test of how the plan is working will be when I put on my suit for church in the morning.  Will it be tight or will it fit right?  We shall see…
